Free tool

Free safe zone checker for video ads

See exactly where TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and the YouTube 16:9 player cover your creative, check your own frame against the zones, and download transparent overlay PNGs for every format. No account, nothing uploaded.

Caption, music ticker and CTA stack in the bottom 560px. The action rail runs down the right edge. Red is platform UI, background only. The green outline is your usable area on the 1080 x 1920 canvas.

Everything runs on this page — your image never leaves your browser.

How it works

Pick a platform, check your frame, download the overlay. The whole tool runs in your browser.

Pick your format and platform

Choose 9:16 for TikTok, Reels and Shorts, 16:9 for YouTube in-stream, or 1:1 and 4:5 for feed placements. The red zones are where platform UI covers your creative; the green outline is the area you can actually use.

Check your own frame

Upload a screenshot or an exported frame of your ad and it renders under the overlay instantly. Everything happens on this page — your image never leaves your browser, and there is no account to create.

Download the overlay

Grab any preset as a transparent PNG at full resolution — 1080x1920, 1920x1080, 1080x1080 or 1080x1350. Drop it on the top layer of your editor, lay out your text inside the green area, delete the overlay before export.

Safe zone specs, in exact pixels

The reserved margins per platform, measured from each edge inward. Everything inside them is background only — captions, product and CTA live in the usable area.

On YouTube in-stream, also keep a ~420 x 140 px block clear in the bottom-right corner, directly above the control bar — that is where the skip-ad button renders. The 9:16 numbers are the worst-case reading of each platform UI stack; the full reasoning is in our 9:16 video ad production guide.

Design to the worst case

The three vertical surfaces share the 1080 x 1920 canvas but reclaim different amounts of it. Reels forces the deepest bottom margin, Shorts the widest right margin. Author every layout to the union and one master survives all three — no re-export, no re-layout per placement.

Checking one frame is easy. Applying the safe zone to twenty variants is the real work — Aitachyon exports videos sized for every feed with the text already positioned inside the safe band.
